Hermitage Artist Retreat Tour

Arts Advocates has arranged a private tour of the Hermitage Artist Retreat on Manasota Key (6630 Manasota Key Rd., Englewood, FL 34223). We will meet at the Hermitage to learn about this gem of an artist retreat from Artistic Director and CEO Andy Sandberg and get a tour of the campus.

Reservations are due October 27. This outdoor tour begins at 11:00 am and lasts approximately 50-60 minutes. Wear shoes that are good for walking on grass and shell paths. The Hermitage has strict covid safety protocols which are constantly updated based on the situation, so please check back for updates on masking. Detailed information about navigation and parking will be posted here as the tour date gets closer.

The Hermitage is a multi-disciplinary artist retreat serving artists, the creative process, and the community. Located on a nine-acre campus, the Hermitage provides accomplished and diverse artists with multi-week residences to create new works of theater, music, visual art, literature, and more. Artists are selected by the Hermitage Curatorial Council, composed of arts leaders from nationally and internationally renowned cultural institutions. Hermitage Fellows have included twelve Pulitzer Prize winners, multiple Tony, Oscar, Emmy, Grammy nominees and winners, Poets Laureate, MacArthur “Genius” and Guggenheim Fellows, and hundreds of extraordinary artists from around the world. The award-winning, impactful, and diverse original works created at the Hermitage are presented in concert halls, theaters, museums, and galleries throughout our region and across the globe. Gulf Coast audiences are offered a “sneak peek” into the works and minds of these artists through the Hermitage’s community programs, many of which are in collaboration with other arts and cultural organizations in our region. In addition to the unique and invaluable experience we provide to artists, we take pride in our complimentary missions of historic preservation, ecological restoration, and community engagement.

Members $25, non-members $30

Those interested in stopping for a casual optional lunch on the way home can gather after the tour.
